The Institute for Cultural Awareness (ICA)

OUR MISSION

The Institute for Cultural Awareness (ICA) is a non-profit corporation providing a safe and healthy environment for cultural exchange and healing. ICA is dedicated to preserving sacred sites and indigenous traditions, bridging the gap between the elders and the children.

ICA's endeavors focus on a sustainable multicultural environment inspiring new dimensions of spiritual existence and the celebration of life.

~ WELCOME TO ICA ~

After a brief period of introspection ICA is back online.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Some updated information regarding "The Return of the Ancestors - The Movie"...

The original plan was to include footage from the event,The Return of the Ancestors, and information about the Continental Council of Indigenous Elders and Spritual Guides of The Americas.

The Council has recently requested that a seperate documentary be created dealing with the history and workings of the the Council's organization. ICA is honoring this request and has had to make changes to the production schedule.

After nearly 150 hours of filming, ICA has been working to edit and deliver this message in the form of a DVD movie will be accompanied with additional DVDs containing key interviews and presentations from these world wisdom keepers. After spending over $15,000 on this project to date we have reached the end of our available funding for this project.

ICA is currently looking into rasing the required funds to finish this project and we will keep you advised of our progress. We apologize to those of you who have already donated to this project and promise to keep you updated.

Cottonwood, Arizona
Attention Adam DeArmon

Dear Adam Yellow Bird, and Carmen:

In the name of the Heart of the Heavens and the Heart of the Earth greetings to you from the National Council of Elders Mayas, Xinca and Garifuna of Guatemala.

It is with great pleasure that I write to you, little late but with joy and admiration, for the great work you both did in organizing and hosting this gathering, “The Return of the Ancestors”, in Arizona, this past April 2009. By experience I know how difficult it is to organize an event of this magnitude, and you and Carmen, two young people, in a short time were able to find the necessary help and did whatever needed to be done to see this event a reality and with a positive outcome. In such a short time you were able to gather a great number of Elders from different continents and so many countries; my great respect to you both.

We appreciate the fact that we were very well care for. Having us the Elders together in one place allowed us to have that intimate contact with each other, a true exchange of feelings and ideas took place, and we had plenty of time to address each one's concerns. We the Elders were very satisfied with the outcome of the event and have nothing else to say but to congratulate you for such amazing job that you did.

Despite all the obstacles that were presented before and during the pilgrimage, such as the intended boycott to try to block the event, all I can say is that “The Spiritual Force”, when things are done in the wright way, no one can stop it, it moves like a hurricane. Let it be an experience for you, when one takes the steps in the right path, the same Creator/God guides us. No Being who follows the path of our ancestors will ever be left in the darkness of ignorance, the light will always illuminate their path, just remember the Maya Prophecy: “The children of the Sun, the children of the fire will be the survivors after the Year Cero”. The essence of our cultures is the same, we are under the same sky, we occupy the same earth and we are children of one only Creator, one God; lets then walk together, at a slow pace, waiting for the rays of the new Sun.

IMMEDIATE: Maya Fire-Crystal Ceremony Sunday Sunrise Nov 29, 4 Ik'

Dear Shift of the Ages Community,

Our apologies for the late notice as we are operating on Maya time, fully present with the Elders (Grandfather Cirilo, Elizabeth and Rufino) as they flow with the energies of the day. The information presented to you here was just finalized now.

The Mayan Elder Fire Ceremony for the Intention Crystals will be Sunday morning at 6:00 AM in Antigua, Guatemala (Central Standard Time), November 29 (4 Ik') near Grandfather Cirilo's home. Please join us around the world, whenever you can, with your own fire ceremony, lighting a candle or sitting in meditation with your inner flame. Please hold deep awareness of the shared intention, offered below, and the knowledge that you are sharing in heart and mind with thousands around the world these powerful intentions.

This day, 4 Ik´, carries the energies of the Spirit of the Air. Grandfather Cirilo, Grandmother Elizabeth and Rufino chose this day because the quart z crystals can hold everything, even the cosmos, in their structure. We will empower these crystals with love and unity, and the message of the Maya, which will be shared in the Shift of the Ages film. The energy of 4 will carry this message, through the Spirit of the Air, to the four directions. The power and clarity of our collective intention, with that of the crystals, will expand in all directions. We honor the Spirit of the Air, as we honor the ancestors, our elders and all those who have sacrificed so that we may be here now as ambassadors of ancient wisdom.

Please join us wherever you are, in whatever way feels appropriate to you.

This family of 300 quartz crystals will be mailed to National, Planetary and Galactic Ambassadors around the world in the month of December. Once this is done, we will immediately begin bringing together the next family (the second round) of Intention Crystals from around the world for the next global fire ceremony. Wh en the time is right, all Fire Ceremony Intention Crystals will be reunited by Ambassadors bringing them to Shift of the Ages Tuning and film release events and viewings.

Thank you for supporting the Maya and their message to the world!

REMINDER - Cosmic Convergence Tele-Webcast Nov 7th

REMINDER: Tele-Webcast Saturday November 7th, details below.

Another note:

A Grandmothers' Drumming Circle for sacred sites in Hawaii and other sacred sites also Saturday, November 7th. Wherever you are, let's join in with our Grandmothers to help protect and restore sacred sites in Hawaii and around the world. The drumming begins in Hawaii by the Grandmothers at 6 PM Hawaii time.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

Dear Shift of the Ages Community,

Thank you for helping us with the Shift of the Ages film. As we get closer to release (early 2010, first at film festivals), your help becomes pivotal. Shift of the Ages Ambassadors are the backbone of support for the authentic message of the Maya that we will deliver to the world in 2010.

Announcements:

1. As we enter the Sixth Night of the Mayan Calendar's Galactic Underworld, www.CommonPassion.org will also initiate a Cosmic Convergence program (free tele-webcast details below) to bring the world together in heart and mind to welcome the birth of a new world. The Shift of the Ages community is invited to attend at no charge. Dr Carl Calleman will join host Joseph Giove in a fascinating discussion of the program and the challenging new energies of the Sixth Night. Joseph will then guide a cosmic meditation connecting us in heart and mind as we journey together.

2. You can view new video clips of Grandfather Cirilo, Grand Elder of the Maya, on the Shift of the Ages site: "Creation" is up now and "Misconceptions" will be up shortly. We fixed a slow playback issue so you can see the clips uninterrupted now. Our apologies to those that were troubled by the problem. www.ShiftoftheAges.com

Please share about the Shift of the Ages film by telling your friends on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, etc, about our video clips and articles on the www.ShiftoftheAges.com web site. Thank you!

3. Please consider becoming a Shift of the Ages Ambassador to help us spread the authentic message of the Maya through film, especially as Sony Pictures monetizes fear in their apocalyptic version of 2012 to be released in a couple weeks. The film perpetuates misconceptions and depicts the Maya as saying that the end of the world occurs at the end of their calendar, "the end of time." Part of our mission with the Shift of the Ages film is to accurately represent the living Maya and provide an accurate portrayal of the prophecies and, most important, what our Mayan elders are saying now about the times in which we are living. As we, together, succeed in our mission, we transform fear into a powerful impetus for embracing the birth of a new world; we transform fear into love, hope and a bright future for our children and grandchildren.

4. We'll be taking our first lot of the Mayan Elder Fire Ceremony Intention Crystals to Guatemala for the Mayan Elder blessing later this month. If we get enough notice from the elders, we'll announce the date of the fire ceremony and you can all join in from wherever you are with your own fire ceremony. The crystals will begin shipping to National and Planetary Ambassadors in December. Details at www.ShiftoftheAges.com.

5. The Mayan Calendar Portal is now re-launched. This is the most interactive portal site dedicated to the Mayan Calendar, interpretation of the day signs, in depth discussion of the calendar, blog, stories, resources and more. http://www.maya-portal.net

6. The Mayan Majix site is also worth the visit and bookmarking. A great resources for learning about the Mayan Calendar and ancient Mayan sites, with many books, DVDs and other valuable resources. http://www.mayanmajix.com/

7. Dr Carl Calleman's new book, a must read, is now available on Amazon:

"The Purposeful Universe: How Quantum Theory and Mayan Cosmology Explain the Origin and Evolution of Life"

Drunvalo Melchizedek has begun a new chapter in communication with the world!

Worldwide Web Live Broadcasts
---------------------------------------------------
Drunvalo has begun a new chapter in communication with the world!

drew2For the first time, Drunvalo will begin a live/interactive series of web casts on the subject of higher consciousness and expanding awareness. Just being himself and sharing his experience in spiritual matters, we will all explore the inner worlds of the ancient and modern ways of perceiving the Reality.

His first web cast called THE MAYA OF ETERNAL TIME - 2012 will begin with the realization that everything our modern world knows of the Maya and their knowledge, including the most accurate calendar know to man, did not come from the Maya themselves, but from the modern world – archeologists, universities, governments, researching individuals. The Maya themselves find the interpretation of the Mayan evidence differently then the modern world. How do we know that to be fact?

Because Don Alejandro Cirilo, the living Dali Lama of the Maya, said so, and he is the head of the Mayan Council of Guatemala, which is represented by all 440 Mayan tribes in Mexico, Belize and Guatemala, the entire Mayan nation. According to Don Alejandro, a 13th generation Mayan shaman, the Maya have not spoken or written a single word with permission from the Mayan Council in 527 years.

To initiate a change in this silence, The Mayan Council brought a global assembly of people from all the continents of the world into sacred ceremony deep in the jungle of Guatemala in November of 2007, and in so doing, began to initiate the whole world into an amazing release of knowledge and wisdom to prepare the planet for a transformation into a new world of Light and realization.

A Message from Drunvalo

Die Grafik "http://www.onelotus.net/assets/images/temple2.jpg" kann nicht angezeigt werden, weil sie Fehler enthält.Honestly, I believe the Maya are about to give this world their most sacred knowledge from their heart to help us along the path of consciousness just as a loving big brother or sister would.

The Maya feel it is their responsibility to let the world be aware of their past experience, their ancient memories around what the date of December 21, 2012 really means.

There are so many people stepping forward from the modern world, who are not Maya, with their books, videos and movies to tell us what the Mayan people know about our immediate future. Now the Maya wish to have a chance to tell their own story straight from their own heart.

Die Grafik "http://www.onelotus.net/assets/images/temple1.jpg" kann nicht angezeigt werden, weil sie Fehler enthält.

I am here only to open the way, as they have asked me to. It is my and the Mayan people’s hope that you will listen. It is definitely to your advantage. At the right time in the future, the leaders of the Mayan people will bring this opening to fruition. You will be there to hear and see their hearts speaking directly to you – God willing.

In the future, the live web casts will continue to open the way for expansion of awareness in these modern times, with other subjects and in depth reporting. All the areas of knowledge that effect us today, such as environmental relationships of energy and balance, healing our bodies, minds and hearts, meditation, contemplation, and dreaming our way into peace. Even the ET’s and the UFO’s are essential to our new understanding, according to our indigenous friends. All of Life will be explored.

Die Grafik "http://www.onelotus.net/assets/images/machu-pichu1.jpg" kann nicht angezeigt werden, weil sie Fehler enthält.

I guess what you would call this is, A SPIRITUAL TALK SHOW, interactive with your questions and needs.

From my heart to yours, thank you for being alive.

The Broadcasts are approximately two hours in length, and will be available in multiple languages.

2012, Maya, Shift of the Ages film Teleconference call Thursday Oct 15

Good day Vibe Tribe,

Common Passion and InfinityAffinity members are true ambassadors of the magnificent shift of the ages, which we have all been diligently supporting in heart and mind for many years.

Many of you know I assumed the role of Executive Producer for the Shift of the Ages film project about a year ago. Steve Copeland the director, Don Alejandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj (Grand Elder of the living Maya), his wife Elizabeth Araujo, a dedicated crew, a handful of investors and I have been hard at work finishing this film and preparing to release this authentic Mayan message to the world. We need your help too.

Herein I describe the importance of rallying in support of the Maya, the release of the upcoming Shift of the Ages film that presents their first public discourse to the world, and a unique program for which you are invited for helping to spread this important message of the Maya.

To learn more about the Shift of the Ages film project, please go here:

Shift of the Ages Film Web Site

Before I go further, however, please consider joining the first Shift of the Ages film Teleconference this Thursday evening (Friday AM GMT). Here are the details:

*********************************

We are on the threshold of a major shift in collective consciousness in both positive and negative directions. Among the many drivers of this shift may be the confluence of accelerating human evolution and fear of the unknown, otherwise known as "the future", the epitome of which is the 2012 and Mayan Calendar end date controversy. We have heard from everyone but the Maya on this pivotal topic. The time is now, according to Mayan Grand Elder Cirilo Perez Oxlaj, to hear from "Wandering Wolf, the Voice of the Jungle." This is the purpose of the Shift of the Ages film.

At the same time, beginning this November, the mass mind will be assaulted with the apocalyptic version of 2012 via a movie of the same name by the director of "Independence Day." If you haven't seen the trailer already, here you go:

www.whowillsurvice2012.com

You may also view their "non-profit" Institute for Human Continuity here www.instituteforhumancontinuity.org, which is offering a lottery for people to occupy their underground facility intended to survive the "end of the world." How noble of Sony pictures to offer such hope for the lucky few who win their lottery, even if it is just a marketing gimmick.

In spite of, or maybe because of, this overt fear mongering, we have an unprecedented opportunity to ignite that fear into a powerful force for conscious transformation and human evolution, like all fear does when transcended. For many years we have collaborated in raising the vibration of humanity through global and community collective consciousness programs. I believe it is time to ramp up our programs, organize and transcend the shift. We can do this in part by rallying in support of those responsible for this ominous and auspicious 2012 date: the Maya.

Juxtaposed on the mainstream media's 2012 treatment is the authentic Mayan perspective, which has yet to be heard by a global audience. If the year 2012 has any significance whatsoever, it is because it points to Year Zero in the Mayan Calendar, which has been translated into "2012" by non-Mayan scholars. Don't you think it will be useful to hear the authentic account of Year Zero by the living elders of the Maya? This is offered in the Shift of the Ages film.

For over four years now this film has been gestating; it will be released in the next 6 months, with your help. The film itself has gone through its own "shift" but is nearing completion. We need your help to bring it to a global mainstream audience because as a low-budget, independent film, we do not have millions of dollars to invest in advertising and publicity. Instead, we have created an Ambassador-Affiliate Program designed to organize a grass-roots global outreach and marketing campaign. The Shift of the Ages Ambassador program allows you to help us and, with the film's success, to help your organization.

There is much more I could say, and I will, in the coming months about what the living Mayans have to say. Meanwhile, the new Shift of the Ages web site is awaiting your review, where we tell you about the film, the Maya and describe the Ambassador program.

When you visit the site, please use the link below or click to the Shift of the Ages site through the banner on the www.CommonPassion.org home page. This benefits Common Passion, and if you follow this instruction for your members (to have them click through your unique link/banner as a Shift of the Ages Affiliate) your organization will benefit too.

Thank you for your time, and your work!

All my best,

Joseph

Will the World End on December 21st 2012?

Will the World End on December 21st 2012?

This article provides a summary and bibliography of various views on the correlation between the Mayan and Gregorian Calendars and the significance of the so-called end date of the Mayan Calendar.

There have been significant changes in the world over the last five-hundred years, most especially in the previous twenty-five years, many of them anticipated by certain interpretations of the Mayan Calendar. The Mayan Calendar end date, most commonly thought to be December 21, 2012, is a crucial matter to understand since so much emphasis is being placed on this precise 24 hour period. Ultimately, common sense tells us that we will not know until December 22, 2012 what happens on the 21st.

It is important to note that December 21, 2012 is not a date in the Mayan Calendar. The Mayan date to which December 21, 2012 refers is often notated as 13.0.0.0.0 in the Mayan Long Count calendar. Below you will find references to how the 2012 date is correlated to this unique period in the Mayan Calendar. Herein you may also discover for yourself that any assertion that the Mayan Calendar end date means that it is the end of the world is pure speculation, sometimes inspired by people relying on what others say without investigation of their own, and other times inspired by those who wish to monetize the fear that attends such a speculation.

I have read many of the scholarly books and contemporary researchers’ works, I have spent years with Mayan Elders, studied other Native American prophecies, and none of them point to a specific 24 hour period on a particular date that the world will end. In fact, once a person gets to know the immense wisdom of our native elders and ancestors, and how they relate to “time,” narrowing down anything to a specific day seems even more incongruent with their ways.

My personal view is that the Mayan Calendar describes the evolution of consciousness on planetary and, perhaps, even cosmic scales. If this is true, the fear around the Mayan Calendar end date does indeed play a vital role, as fear is always an obstacle to wholesome growth and personal or collective evolution. When fear is transcended by accepting the information it (fear) has to offer, we may finally deal with what is really there. In light of this, an appropriate question inspired by the “end date” controversy may not be “Who will Survive?” but “How can I transcend my fear and further my own personal evolution?” An evolutionary moment always occurs when we transcend fear.

I have written this article so that we may all settle into our normal but accelerating personal and collective evolutionary processes without any more fear than is necessary and healthy for moving through these challenging times. This does not mean that we can be lackadaisical or nonchalant about making changes in order to help usher in a new world. Indigenous prophecies, many of which seem quite accurate, tell us that it is time to clean up our personal and collective acts; otherwise a self-created calamity will befall us.

We are already suffering the consequences of our mal-alignment with nature and each other, and at the same time, this suffering is instigating a global awakening concurrent with massive positive changes in the world around us. Perhaps this is why the living Maya are eager to celebrate the new cycle, what they call a “Sun,” which inevitably must follow the ending of a prior cycle, a prior Sun. You will not find the Maya burying themselves in underground shelters waiting for the new Sun. You will find them in ceremony around the sacred fire asking what they can do to align with the wisdom of the ancestors and tapping their own insight so as to align with the energies of the new Sun. All this is in the now, not in some imaginary future. Our Mayan Elders, alive with us today, are inviting us to do the same.

Bibliography

1. Wandering Wolf’s Message and Year Zero – Shift of the Ages Article by Grandfather Cirilo

“So for us the time that is coming to us, is a time of change. And for us the Mayas, it is joy and happiness. They are saying in 2012 that this will end. So for us, the Mayans, if it were to happen in 2012, oh, how happy it would be. And our Creator, he will leave seeds from different regions for the future. So you, when that time comes, you will be prepared.”

2. Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar – Wikipedia

“The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar is a non-repeating, vigesimal (base-20) calendar used by several Mesoamerican cultures, most notably the Maya. For this reason, it is sometimes known as the Maya (or Mayan) Long Count calendar.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesoamerican_Long_Count_calendar

3. The 2012 End Date – Wikipedia

“The 2012 phenomenonis a present-day cultural meme proposing that cataclysmic or transformative events will occur in the year 2012. The forecast is based primarily on what is claimed to be the end-date of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, which is presented as lasting 5,125 years and as terminating on December 21 or 23, 2012, along with interpretations of assorted legends, scriptures, numerological constructions and prophecies.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_millenarianism

4. Correlations between Western calendars and the Long Count calendar – Wikipedia

“There have been various methods proposed to allow us to convert from a Long Count date to a Western calendar date. These methods, or correlations, are generally based on dates from the Spanish conquest, where both Long Count and Western dates are known with some accuracy.

“The commonly established way of expressing the correlation between the Maya calendar and the Gregorian or Julian calendars is to provide number of days from the start of the Julian Period (Monday, January 1, 4713 BCE) to the Long Count's zero date or base date, which was 13.0.0.0.0 (the corresponding Calendar Round date was 4 Ajaw, 8 Kumk'u).

“Despite the publicity generated by the 2012 date, Susan Milbrath, curator of Latin American Art and Archaeology at the Florida Museum of Natural History, stated that ‘We [the archaeological community] have no record or knowledge that [the Maya] would think the world would come to an end in 2012.’ ‘For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle,’ says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies in Crystal River, Florida. To render December 21, 2012, as a doomsday event or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is ‘a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in.’ ‘There will be another cycle,’ says E. Wyllys Andrews V, director of the Tulane University Middle American Research Institute (MARI). ‘We know the Maya thought there was one before this, and that implies they were comfortable with the idea of another one after this.’”

5. Tortuguero (Maya Site) – Wikipedia

“Tortuguero (or El Tortuguero) is an archaeological site in southernmost Tabasco, Mexico which supported a Maya city during the Classic period. The site is noteworthy for its use of the B'aakal emblem glyph also found as the primary title at Palenque.

“Monument 6 from Tortuguero is currently generating discussion as it includes the only known inscription depicting the end of the current 13-baktun era in 2012.Grube, Martin and Zender have stated it refers to ‘the end of the 13th b’ahktun which we will see in the year 2012’ and as to what will happen, they say, ‘…utom,’ ‘it will happen’ followed by something that we cannot read and he ‘will descend’ yem. The last glyph begins with ta followed by something. However, this is not the end of the world.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tortuguero_%28Maya_site%29

6. Lost King of the Maya – David Stuart and Nova

“David Stuart began deciphering Maya hieroglyphic inscriptions at the age of eight, and at 18 he became the youngest recipient of a MacArthur ‘genius grant.’ Now at Harvard University's Peabody Museum, he is a world-renowned expert on the written language of the ancient Maya.”

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/maya/copa_transcript.html

7. The TortugueroMonument 6 and the Mayan End Date – Carl Johan Calleman

“When I started my independent research on the Mayan calendar late in 1993 not a single inscription from the ancient Maya was actually known which would describe what would happen at its so-called end date. All that was known were the various descriptions of the beginning date of the Long Count, notably in the inscriptions in Palenque, which said that the First Father then ‘erected the World Tree’.”

http://www.calleman.com/content/articles/the_tortuguero%20_monument.htm

8. What Will Not Happen in 2012 – Stephen Houston

“Epigraphers await 2012 with trepidation. There will be ill-founded claims, bad Hollywood movies (one now in production), silly reportage, and much distortion of what 2012 meant for the ancient Maya. Every imaginable anxiety will apply to this key event in the Maya calendar.”

http://decipherment.wordpress.com/2008/12/20/what-will-not-happen-in-2012

9. Comments on the 2012 text on TortugueroMonument 6 and Bolon Yokte K'u – John Major Jenkins

“This essay will briefly discuss the symbolism, hieroglyphic placements, and various aspects of a Mayan deity called Bolon Yokte. His presence on Creation monuments has special relevance considering that he appears in the text of a unique monument that points directly to 13.0.0.0.0, December 21, 2012. I'll also suggest a possible early iconographic form of Bolon Yokte that appears on the murals of San Bartolo.”

http://edj.net/mc2012/bolon-yokte.html

10. The question of the Mayan calendar end date – Carl Johan Calleman

“For some time now there has been a discussion going on as to what is the exact end date of the Mayan calendar. This debate was recently fueled by the rejection by Don Alejandro Oxlaj, head of the council of elders of the Maya, of the December 21, 2012 date promoted by archeologists.”

11. The Mayan Calendar and the Evolution Of Consciousness – Carl Johan Calleman

“The Mayan Time Science describes energy changes in Cosmic history and is our
most valuable tool for charting the future. This site outlines the underlying basis
for this calendar, the very foundation of prophecy.”

12. Maya Cosmogenesis 2012 – John Major Jenkins

“Over 2,000 years ago the early Maya formulated a profound galactic cosmology. They saw that the sun, on the winter solstice, was slowly moving toward the heart of the galaxy.”

http://alignment2012.com

13. Misconceptions about the Mayan Calendar and 2012 – John Major Jenkins

“More than four years after the publication of my book Maya Cosmogenesis 2012, two realities have come to my attention. First, generally speaking several misconceptions about the Maya calendar and the 2012 date persist. The misunderstandings occur in the general population of interested people as well as among academics.”

14. 2012, Galactic Cosmology & A New World Age. Alternate title: Beware the 2012 Bandwagonistas! – Susan Rennison

“Since there is increasing focus on the approaching 21st December 2012 ‘End-date’ of various non-Gregorian Calendars around the world, principally but not exclusively Mayan, I have decided it now appropriate to apply some independent scrutiny. This is especially required as many are under the impression that something magical or catastrophic will happen on this End-date.

http://www.susanrennison.com/Index_2012_Galactic_Cosmology.htm

15. Doomsday Scenario – Wikipedia

“A far more apocalyptic view of the year 2012 is represented by the History Channel which, beginning in 2006, aired "Decoding the Past: Mayan Doomsday Prophecy", based loosely on John Major Jenkins' theories but with a tone he characterized as "45 minutes of unabashed doomsday hype and the worst kind of inane sensationalism". It was co-written by a science fiction author. This show proved popular and was followed by many sequels: 2012, End of Days (2006), The Last Days on Earth (2008) Seven Signs of the Apocalypse (2008) and Nostradamus 2012 (2008), together with programs recounting past doomsdays: Comet Catastrophe (2007), Noah's Great Flood (2008) and Journey to 10000 B.C.

“The 2012 Wiki maintained by Robert Bast of Survive2012.com as an information center covering all aspects of 2012. Robert Bast also has a discussion forum, for all topics related to 2012. Bast believes that something bad might happen in 2012, would prefer something good to happen, and expects that nothing out-of-the-ordinary will happen (but it's best to be prepared, just in case...)”

17. Novelty Theory, Timewave Zero and the I Ching – 2012 Wiki

“Novelty theory attempts to calculate the ebb and flow of novelty in the universe as an inherent quality of time. It is an idea conceived of and discussed at length by Terence McKenna from the early 1970s until his death in the year 2000. Novelty theory involves ontology, morphogenesis, and eschatology.”

18. Eschatology – Wikipedia

“Eschatology (from the Greek σχατος, Eschatos meaning "last" and -logy meaning "the study of") is a part of theology and philosophy concerned with what is believed to be the final events in the history of the world, or the ultimate destiny of humanity, commonly referred to as the end of the world. While in mysticism the phrase refers metaphorically to the end of ordinary reality and reunion with the Divine, in many traditional religions it is taught as an actual future event prophesied in sacred texts or folklore. More broadly, eschatology may encompass related concepts such as the Messiah or Messianic Age, the end time, and the end of days.”

Many people know that a grand cycle of the famous Mayan Long Count Calendar ends in the 2011-2012 timeframe, but they may be misinformed about its meaning. According to Mayan prophecy, we have entered a unique period of time during which it is both safe and necessary to share this information to the public.

The Shift of the Ages film is the first official Maya discourse to the world.

become an ambassador

The ominous date, December 21, 2012, may not be relevant to the Mayan Calendar; this is a Gregorian Calendar date. The crucial period of their prophecy is Año Cero or Year Zero in the Sacred Mayan Calendar. The Shift of the Ages film is about the special time in which we are living and the unique transition or “shift” between epochs of creation, what they call “Suns.”

  1. Why is there so much fear about December 21, 2012?
  2. What are the keepers of Mayan Prophecy saying now about this epoch “shift”?
  3. Why has the film crew shot over 300 hours of footage and 13,000 still photographs on five continents in remote areas rarely visited by Westerners to capture the essence of the Shift of the Ages?

Be the first to learn the answers to these and many other questions by becoming a Shift of the Ages Ambassador, and be instrumental in this monumental, evolutionary epoch of human history.

Aloq minak taq tat, nimak tat nan, nimak tak q’albaltzij ke pe naj, ke pe nakaj nima laj utz ki petik che le rilik che utayic le in siwan tinamit Guatemala. Kulewal ke mayib che we qij 8 Noj.

With the permission of the Heart of the Heavens, the Heart of Mother Earth, the Heart of the Spirit of the Air, and the Heart of the Water, I present my deepest respects to you Mr. President Eng. Alvaro Colom Caballeros and your distinguish wife Mrs. Sandra Torres; to Vice-president Dr. Rafael Espada, Government Officials here present, Congressmen, Authorities of Catholic, Evangelical, Jewish, Muslim, and other Communities. My great respect to the honorable dignitaries of different countries who are visiting us on 8 NOJ, the day in which the Nahual of the Intelligence is represented in our Mayan calendar. This is a day suitable for the development of great knowledge and wisdom. With great pleasure we give you all a warm welcome to the Ancestral Land of the Maya Nation, Nation of Corn, holders of the sacred books of the Pop Wuj, and the Book of Books of the Chilam Balam.

It is with humbleness that I ask you to stand up to listen to Rey Ki’che (The Ki’che King) considered by thousands of Guatemalans as the sacred hymn of the Maya Ki’Che. At this occasion it will represent the Maya Nation of Guatemala. With the melodious notes of our marimba the Spirit of our Ancestors will be present, such us: Tucum Umam, Tepepul, Zumanche, Kagib Imox, Belegeb Kat, Oxib Kej, Belegeb Tzi, Juan Matal Batz, Manuel Tot, Kaibil Balam, Atanacio Tzul, Lucas Aguilar, Francisco Socuel, Moctesuma, Cuautemoc, Atlacatl, Lempira, Nicarau, Tupac Amaru, Atagualpa and many others, who died in defense of their people.

In the name of the National Counsel of Elders Mayas, Xinca y Garifuna de Guatemala, here in this moment we state that we are a Nation with a millenary culture, a culture that had scientific advances of great dimensions in different areas such as astrology, mathematics, architecture, hydrology, natural medicine and more, but that over 500 years ago these cultures’ normal historical process of growth was violently interrupted. Thanks to the wisdom of the Grandfathers and Grandmothers who gifted us with their spiritual knowledge through the days of the Maya calendar, these brilliant cultures have been able, not only to be maintained but also to be expanded through the world, as well as the dignity of the Maya Nation.

The National Counsel of Elders Mayas, Xinca and Garifuna of Guatemala are here in fulfillment of the Prophecies of the 13 Baktun and 13 Ajau. This Counsel is the true authority whose dignitaries – 275 men and 175 women at present – ¬have always been, are and will be there to lead their communities and to overlook for the well being of their people, in the social order, in the correct application of justice, as well as living in harmonic coexistence with mother Nature. This Maya National Counsel of Elders is, and continues to be, autonomous despite the fact of this autonomy not being recognized by the government. This Counsel of Elders does not belong to any political party nor is it a Counsel of the government. This is a Counsel for the People. This knowledge in the exercise of the authority has been transmitted by our Ancestors in the traditional oral way.

We have several prophecies concerning the time we are living in, and it is in fulfillment of the Prophecies that we are here today. I will mention some of them:

“At the time of the 13 Baktun and 13 Ahau is the time of the return of our Ancestors and the return of the men of wisdom.” That time is now.

Another one says: “Arise, everyone, stand up! Not one, nor two groups be left behind the rest”. This prophecy is in reference to all: rich or poor, black or white, men or women, indigenous or non indigenous, we all are equal, we all have dignity, we all deserve respect, we all deserve happiness; we all are useful and necessary to the growth of the country and to make a nation where we can live with respect among the different cultures.

The Prophecy says: “Those of the Center, with their mystical bird Quetzal, make unite the Eagle of the North with the Condor of the South; we will meet because we are one, like the fingers of the hand.” This prophecy means that the Indigenous People of the North and the Indigenous People of the South, through those of the Center, will come together to strengthen the recovery of the ancestral science; recovery of our identity, art, spirituality and Cosmo-vision on life and death that the different Cultures have.

We the Indigenous People join together in defense of the life of the human species, in defense of the life of our brother animals and the trees and in defense of the life of Mother Earth, because the life of the Planet Earth is in danger. We all know that what is happening in the world now is not a coincidence. As examples: The hurricanes and the heavy storms that are menacing different places in the world; the high temperatures that day by day rise to higher degree, while in other parts of the world the cold becomes more intense; rivers are drying out and others are disappearing; the glaciers are melting; many places in the world are suffering the effects of natural disasters; and all of these are the result of our imbalance with Nature. One other thing, our country, our communities are living under fear due to the violence, the drugs, and confrontations with those who are in search for power and wealth.

It is necessary that the behavior of human beings all over the world has to change; the life of the Planet Earth is responsibility of all and that is why the invitation from the Indigenous people is for everyone, to help save human life, save the planet thus inheriting a healthy future to the new generations. It is for this reason that we invite everyone, indigenous and non indigenous to understand and respect each other; we invite each one to make an effort to change the negative attitude towards the indigenous and towards women in general. We invite each minister, each public employee, to work for the eradication of racism, discrimination and the inequality that exist in our country.

The Mayan Prophecy says: “Let my big Melody play, let my small Melody play, let my dancers loose, let my prisoners be free; these are my valleys, these are my mountains.” These are the words of Rabinal Achi. Why do I say “my valleys and mountains are prisoners”? Because they are being used as centers for nuclear testing, because they are being perforated without compassion, drawing the blood of Mother Earth, extracting her oil and minerals that only increase the contamination and bring about destruction. The mountains are prisoners of men because with the chainsaw of the big monopolies are murdering its trees, and with it go the animals that inhabit them. They say that we the indigenous, the country people, and the poor Ladinos are the ones killing the trees, and only for the small amount of wood that we use for cooking our sacred nourishment. This is not true. One can never compare the use we make of the trees with the commercial objectives that the big corporations have with the trees. It is not true that we the poor and the indigenous are the ones who are killing the trees when we are not even owners of land. This way of thinking is simply part of the same racism. It is easy to blame the weak. From the Maya Cosmo-vision point of view, no one owns the land; we are just one more element of life and of Nature, and this is why we are inviting every human being to help save our Mother Earth.

According to the Maya Long Count Calendar, we are finalizing the 13 Baktun and 13 Ahau, thus approaching the YEAR CERO. We are at the doorsteps of the ending of another period of the Sun, a period that lasts 5,200 years and ends with several hours of darkness. After this period of darkness there comes a new period of the Sun; it will be the 6th one. In each period of the Sun there is an adjustment for the planet and it brings changes in the weather conditions and in social and political life as well.

The world is transformed and we enter a period of understanding and harmonious coexistence where there is social justice and equality for all. It is a new way of life. With a new social order there comes a time of freedom where we can move like the clouds, without limitations, without borders. We will travel like the birds, without the need for passports. We will travel like the rivers, all heading towards the same point…the same objective. The Mayan prophecies are announcing a time of change. The Pop Wuj, the book of the Counsel, tells us, “It is time for dawn; let the dawn come, for the task to be finished.”

It is based in this prophecy that I make the following reflection: In present time, we the indigenous, non indigenous and Ladino people still don’t see ourselves as true brothers and sisters; we haven’t reached the place where there is no room for racism, discrimination and exclusion, where we all feel like citizens with dignity. Many don’t believe there is racism, discrimination, and despise towards citizens of indigenous communities, but the reality is that we feel it and we live it every moment. We experience it all the time, as workers and as citizens. I ask myself, “Why is this, if we are all humans, if we all have the same feelings and dignity, and we all are equal?” I think that there is so much to learn still, such as learning to recognize the identity, the value, and the wisdom that the indigenous nations have regarding living a good life. This gives us the inspiration to live and to be a better person every day.

To the many in this country, what we the Indigenous People do, what we feel, and what we think has no importance. The concept they have is that we are ignorant people. But no, we are not ignorant. We are descendants of a millennial culture who has suffered over the years. But one that still maintains great wisdom to the point of having been able to solve our own necessities without the support of the Country, and without return of our taxes.

The future of Guatemala is in our hands. We can help eliminate poverty and the daily exclusion. Each one of us has a relationship with the Universe and that reflects whether our attitudes with others are harmonious or not. The time for change has arrived. The time for understanding each other and to be more human is here. It is the time to collaborate with our country, a nation of a millennial culture. The time has come to understand that we have much to teach the world. The time has come for each citizen Maya, Xinca, Garifuna and Ladino to feel proud of being Guatemalan, and to know that their roots are in this land. It is time to have peace in our souls. How happy will be the day when everyone can feel proud of their roots and work in the positive growth of the Country? When this happens Guatemala will change its history.

Through history it has officially been said that the Mayas are a thing of the past; that they existed in times of yesterday. In this day of the Wajxaquib Noj, the day of the wisdom and knowledge, we want to let you all know that we are here, and we are here present. We have a prophecy confirming this, it says, “We are the ones of yesterday, we are the ones of today, and we will be the ones of tomorrow.” Together the four nations, Mayas, Xinca, Garifunas and Ladinos, together like the fingers of the hand, living in our own diversity; let us build peace. Here we have 8 children, boys and girls. They are a symbol of the four nations that inhabit Iximulew. They represent the present and the future of our Guatemala, where we come to feel like brothers and sisters, all equal, in dignity and with rights.

In the name of the Heart of the Heaven and the Heart of the Earth, The Heart of the Water and the Heart of the Air, in the name of the Grandfathers and Grandmothers and all our ancestors who died unjustly during the process of colonization, and more recently during the 36 years of the Internal Armed Conflict, in the name of the victims of the genocide against the Maya Nation; I have the honor and responsibility to pass on to you this Staff: symbol of authority, the authority that will watch your actions and those of your collaborators in fulfillment of your duties according to the Constitution.

DELIVERY OF THE STAFF

Do you swear, Mr. President, in the presence of our Creator, our Mother Earth, The Spirit of our Ancestors, those who gave their lives in defense of their people, along the 515 years and who died victims of the genocide in times of the colonization and specially those who died during the genocide of the Maya People during the 36 years of internal armed conflict, people such as your uncle Mr. Manuel Colom Argueta? And do you swear in presence of your special guests and the entire Maya Nation of Guatemala to be a governor for all people – Maya, Xinca, Garifuna and Ladina of Guatemala?

Do you Swear, Mr. President, to work for justice and equality among all people and thus be the governor that will make different history, with a future with dignity for all, and not to become like many others, in being the president for a privileged group, or a servant to the powerful businesspeople and the dominant class? Do you swear to lead your cabinet in a way that all members will work to make justice, with a goal in mind, that is to end the discrimination, the racism, and the exclusion of the Maya, Xinca and Garifuna Nations; that day by day we suffer in the institutions for lack of compliance with the laws of the Country and that are affecting us in our daily lives?

Mr. President, Alvaro Colom Caballeros, The National Counsel of Elders Mayas, Xinca and Garifuna of Guatemala know that you have a huge responsibility with the People and Mother Earth; we also know that there are powers, parallel powers, that do not want change; there are people from big monopolies of money, trafficker groups, groups with economic power enriched with the granting of our land during different governments, which have been confirmed by official history. We know also that there are enemies of the people and that the path is difficult. But we also believe firmly in the prophecies that announce change. It is for this reason that we like to reaffirm to you that you will have all the support of the People through this Counsel of Elders always as for as long as you fulfill with the commitments that you have made with the people. The Counsel will be a vigilant of this. The people cannot live on hope; the people need to know that the promises made during the electoral campaign will be fulfilled.

Lastly, IN THE NAME OF OUR ANCESTORS, IN THE NAME OF OUR MOTHER EARTH, IN THE NAME OF THE SPIRIT OF OUR ANCESTORS, IN THE NAME OF OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS, WE CALL FOR NATIONAL UNITY, RESPECT AND DIGNITY TO THE PEOPLE, RESPECT TO MOTHER EARTH, AND FOR ALL OF US TOGETHER TO BUILD A GUATEMALA IXIMULEW WHERE ALL THE NATIONS “HAVE PEACE, MUCH PEACE AND BE HAPPY, A GOOD LIFE AND USEFUL EXISTENCE…LET THE MORNING COME, LET THE DAWN COME” Words of the Pop Wuj

Thank you,
Wakatel Utiw, Wandering Wolf

GUATEMALA CITY -- Alvaro Colom was sworn in Monday as Guatemala's first leftist president in more than 50 years, promising to fight poverty in a nation where half the people live on less than $1 a day.

Colom, who led Guatemala's efforts to coax thousands of war refugees back home after its civil war ended in 1996, took office in a ceremony attended by world leaders including Presidents Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and Alvaro Uribe of Colombia, who recently clashed over a hostage-release mission.

"Today is the beginning of privileges for the poor, the beginning of privileges for those without opportunities," Colom, 56, said after receiving the presidential sash to the tune of traditional Maya music.

Despite his ideology, Colom said he doesn't want to be identified with other leftist governments in Latin America, including that of Chavez.

Maya leaders, some wearing colorful embroidered blouses and skirts, attended the inauguration.

Former Houston Methodist Hospital heart surgeon Rafael Espada took office as vice president at the event.

"We are going to fight for the unity of the country, for the harmony with our indigenous people," Colom said.

He has promised a broad social agenda that includes building schools and medical centers, creating jobs and bringing security to a country where gangs behead victims and drug traffickers control much of the police force.

Colom plans to recruit business leaders to participate in a pact to improve the economy and alleviate poverty.

Message from Mayan Elder Don Alejandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj
Written by A Message From Mayan Elder

It is my greatest pleasure to know that 8, almost 9 years later the next Gathering of Indigenous Elders is about to take place in Arizona. Based on the Mayan Prophecies, several years ago, I had the vision to do these gatherings; and so, in 1995, with the help of Creator, I organized the First of these gatherings here in Guatemala, in the Center, the Land of the Quetzal. Like our Mayan Prophecy says: "Those of the Center may unite the Eagle of the North with the Condor of the South, we will meet, for we are one like the fingers of the hand." Two years later, in 1997, the Second gathering of Indegenous Elders was held in South America, Bogota and the Amazon jungle in Colombia, the Land of the Condor. Two years later, in 1999, the Third one in North America, New Mexico, USA, the land of the Eagle. We joined Americas!

After the Third gathering, the Sacred Staff that had helped us join the three Americas was gone and the gatherings stopped. Eight years of stagnation followed. But now the Sacred Staff is back, the movement has returned. Now we want to reach all corners of the world. All those who come to participate in this gathering will be Messengers of the Prophesies, Messengers of Peace, Warriors to save our Mother Earth and all those who inhabit her: brother animals, trees, all living beings and the world of the stone people. Together we can do it. Together we can bring peace.

Tata Don Alejandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj

Ambassador for the Indegenous Pueblos Mayas, Xinca and Garifuna of Guatemala & President of the National Council of Elders Mayas, Xinca and Garifuna of Guatemala
