Conscious Convergence, Gulf of Mexico, more...
Just a quick update of very relevant issues:
1. In the next few days we'll be ready to have you register your events and programs that are aligned with the Conscious Convergence. IN the coming days you can see the details and opportunities to join with others around the world developing here:
http://www.commonpassion.org/groups/conscious-convergence
And a wonderful discussion going on here in the Discussion Forum, under "Event Discussions/Conscious Convergence":
http://forum.commonpassion.org
We appreciate all the volunteers that have stepped up to help and support the Conscious Convergence. We in deed are creating a wave of unity to fulfill our greater destiny!
2. Gulf of Mexico. We are developing a series of global concordances for the Gulf of Mexico crisis and its healing. We've had some internal planning and meditating about it and will announce the first Tele-Webcast and call later this week. Meanwhile, please share your ideas on the new discussion forum for this topic in the Discussion Forum, under "Event Discussions/Gulf of Mexico Healing":
http://forum.commonpassion.org
Not firm yet, but most likely we'll initiate our global support program this Saturday June 5th with a Tele-Webcast-Concordance, then follow up with a much larger global concordance/Tele-Webcast on Sunday and Monday June 20 and 21, aligned with the solstice/equinox and a gathering of indigenous healers located in the Gulf on the 21st.
More to come.
Thank you.

El Quetzal Issue 17: 1 Imix
Trecena of 1 Imix
Read the MCP blogs! | The Trecena of Initiation We in the West get really excited about anything "new". New technologies, new friends, new jobs, new homes, new options on the menus of our favorite restaurants. And so you'd think a new Tzolk'in round would be reason for celebration throughout the Maya world. But it's not. For the Maya, time is cyclical, and so there is no beginning or end. The trecenas simply repeat, one following the other in an unending choreography of time. But the day signs do have meaning, and that is what matters even more than beginnings or endings. Imix is the Alligator, the initiator of new ideas and activities, a sign of radiant Eastern energy. He will rule the next thirteen days, and as his fresh essence percolates through your consciousness, don't worry too much about getting work done. In fact, the Maya themselves avoid any appreciable amount of activity, because for them, Imix is a challenging day, charged with reflecting the deep, visionary aspect of reality... not unlike, as author Ken Johnson describes it, Carl Jung's concept of the collective unconscious. And so, take this time to plan the next phase of your personal or professional journey, flesh out your vision, dreams and goals, and prepare for the time when you will need to take that first step. Many of you have posted your intentions on our Facebook page, ranging from personal stories to travel to protecting our natural world. We welcome and encourage more posts and shared intentions during this very special trecena. Join us on the daily journeys of each Trecena, online at Facebook and Twitter. Mayan Elders to honor the Conscious Convergence We're thrilled to report that three well-known Maya elders, Don Alejandro Oxlaj, Don Rigoberto Itzep and Hunbatz Men, have agreed to participate in the Conscious Convergence event, to take place July 17-18, 2010. The three elders, among the most respected and well-known representatives of the Mayan people, will perform special ceremonies in Guatemala and Mexico to celebrate the Conscious Convergence. We're currently looking into the possibility of having the ceremonies documented through video or available for live streaming. To learn more about Conscious Convergence, please visit the Conscious Convergence event page. To volunteer, please contact Jo-beth via email at jo-beth.kiefer@commonpassion.org, and to donate funds, please go to the Conscious Convergence donation page. MCP welcomes new blogger Elizabeth Tobin We'd like to extend a warm welcome to our newest MCP blogger, certified Resonance Repatterning practitioner Elizabeth Tobin, JD, C.R.R.P. Some of you may already be familiar with her work, but for those of you who've never heard of resonance repatterning, check out Elizabeth's web site, LizTobin.com. And be sure to visit her MCP blog page as well. Take the MCP survey In the last issue of El Quetzal we put out the call to our international community to help us better understand what improvements and additions to the MCP web site you'd like to see. We're close to 100 completed surveys so far (a big THANK YOU to all who've participated!), but we need to get to at least 300 to have a significant body of data. So if you have not taken the survey yet, please take just a few minutes to fill it out! The survey is online here, and should take only 10-15 minutes to complete.

Mayan Elders will honor the Conscious Convergence
Mayan Elders will honor the Conscious Convergence
Three Mayan elders, Don Alejandro Oxlaj, Don Rigoberto Itzep and Hunbatz Men,
have pledged to participate in the Conscious Convergence, July 17-18, 2010
through performing ceremonies on these dates. The three elders are among the most respected and well-known representatives of the Mayan people yet having somewhat different roles in this tradition.
Hunbatz Men is probably the most well-known of the Yucatec Maya elders and is
the initiator of the Maya Mystery Schools, (see http://www.themayas.com.mx/).
Don Rigoberto Itzep leads the Wajshakib Batz (8 Monkey) ceremonies in Momostenango in Guatemala, which plays a critical role in maintaining the continuity of the calendar through the initiation of new daykeepers (see http://www.maya-portal.net/blog/ken/initiation_of_daykeeper_report_from_momostenango
or http://www.kachina.net/~alunajoy/wajshakib-batz.html). Don Alejandro Oxlaj, Wandering Wolf, http://www.shiftoftheages.com/, is the spokesperson of the 440 person strong Mayan Council of Elders in addition to being Grand Elder of the Continental Council of the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas.
Very likely the Conscious Convergence will be observed also by many other elders all over the Mayan lands as the word goes around. The participation of Hunbatz Men and Don Alejandro takes on a special role in that it establishes a continuity to the Harmonic Convergence in 1987 in which they both played an instrumental role.
The Conscious Convergence Core Team is happy to announce the support of the Mayan elders for the July 17-18 event, and through this we want to extend a call to all indigenous peoples in the world to be part.

The end date of the Mayan calendar - again
Where does our understanding of the Mayan calendar begin, with a presumed "end date" or with a model for the evolution of consciousness? There still seems to be several researchers of the Mayan calendar who want to sacrifice all meaningful understanding of the Mayan calendar because they believe that the December 21, 2012 date is cut in stone. This article of mine is in response to some comments on this issue by Geoff Stray and Shay Addams and seeks to highlight what is really important:
